hey guys coach here thanks for taking a minuteĀ
to check out this week's plant of the weekĀ Ā this week i wanted to give you a little bitĀ
of a hint and over the next few i'm goingĀ Ā to have some lawn substitute some ground coverĀ
type of plants that i want to introduce you toĀ Ā this week we're talking about the blue rugĀ
or blue carpet juniper this juniper hereĀ Ā is really well suited for hillside plantings lowĀ
ground cover spreading lawn substitute if you'dĀ Ā like only goes to about six inches high in itsĀ
perfect environment it has a beautiful blue-grayĀ Ā cast to it and the newer growth is even more blueĀ
and then it kind of fades into that blue-grayĀ Ā not really super finicky about soils it will doĀ
better in kind of a loamy soil but it toleratesĀ Ā clay soils if you amend it wellĀ
and you give it a little biggerĀ Ā initial planting hole to get a good startĀ
in blue rug or blue carpet juniper yourĀ Ā uniporous will tonight you can look for itĀ
it's pretty common in most nurseries i meanĀ Ā i happen to be at one of the the better stockedĀ
box stores right now and i think you'll be veryĀ Ā happy with this it can it can go six inches highĀ
but it can spread out if you let it go on its ownĀ Ā ten feet wide or more and you can nip and tuck itĀ
the more you nip and tuck it the more it tends toĀ Ā want to get a little higher so be careful onĀ
that if you want to keep things low anywayĀ Ā hey blue rug juniper this is coach i'll catchĀ
you guys next week thanks for taking a minute
