Blue Rug Juniper | Juniperus horizontalis Wiltonii | Lawn Alternative

hey guys coach here thanks for taking a minute
to check out this week's plant of the week   this week i wanted to give you a little bit
of a hint and over the next few i'm going   to have some lawn substitute some ground cover
type of plants that i want to introduce you to   this week we're talking about the blue rug
or blue carpet juniper this juniper here   is really well suited for hillside plantings low
ground cover spreading lawn substitute if you'd   like only goes to about six inches high in its
perfect environment it has a beautiful blue-gray   cast to it and the newer growth is even more blue
and then it kind of fades into that blue-gray   not really super finicky about soils it will do
better in kind of a loamy soil but it tolerates   clay soils if you amend it well
and you give it a little bigger   initial planting hole to get a good start
in blue rug or blue carpet juniper your   uniporous will tonight you can look for it
it's pretty common in most nurseries i mean   i happen to be at one of the the better stocked
box stores right now and i think you'll be very   happy with this it can it can go six inches high
but it can spread out if you let it go on its own   ten feet wide or more and you can nip and tuck it
the more you nip and tuck it the more it tends to   want to get a little higher so be careful on
that if you want to keep things low anyway   hey blue rug juniper this is coach i'll catch
you guys next week thanks for taking a minute
